DAY 4: How accelerators works

After having breakfast and sharing some ideas...

Bishnu, Nadia, Ana and me.

...we've attended a lecture by Dr. Simone Gilardone about Particle Acceleration. Basically, an accelerator uses electric and magnetic fields in order to accelerate, bend and focus charged particles in a defined volume.

Different types of particle accelerators have been built over the years and more powerful machines will be construct in the future. By the moment, the Large Hadron Collider is the most powerful one.

In the afternoon, a visit to the Test Magnet Facility SM18...

Waldemar, Alan and Kristoffer  are paying attention
 to the explanation.

Christophe, Paulo and Yulin are looking hard
at conductors and superconductors.

Do not walk or stand here.
